Hi, I’m Evan Travelstead – a product designer helping companies define, design, and transform ideas into intentionally crafted experiences people enjoy. Most recently at Meta.

Where I can add value

  1. Your team needs clarity before it needs pixels. I help cast vision and turn your business goals, user needs, and technical constraints into clear product decisions, so your team knows what to build next and why.

  2. Static designs hide risks. Interactive prototypes reveal them. I use AI workflows to quickly prototype, validating design decisions before your team commits to production code.

  3. As your product grows, consistency gets harder to maintain. I build reusable components and design systems that make features easier to design, build, and scale.

  4. Users notice every point of friction, even when they can’t explain it. I refine interactions until your product feels intentional, beautiful, and effortless to use.

  5. Every team operates differently, and great collaboration adapts to that. I integrate wherever I can add the most value: leading initiatives, working autonomously, or embedding into your design team.

Questions

  • What’s on your mind?
  • To move faster and, in some cases, write the code behind the final experience myself. I use multi-agent workflows in Claude Code or Cursor to move fluidly between canvas and code, turning ideas into functional experiences in hours or days instead of weeks.
  • My preference is to work through a weekly or monthly flat retainer. It keeps the focus on the work itself rather than tracking hours, managing revision limits, or navigating rigid scopes. We define the priorities, collaborate closely, and continue until the work is complete.
  • Depends. My strength is bridging the gap between design and engineering by building working front-end prototypes and functional product experiences, allowing ideas to be tested and refined in hours instead of days. I can take ownership of the interface layer, interactions, and component architecture, while collaborating with engineers for production-scale systems like APIs, databases, CRM integrations, and complex infrastructure. The result is a faster, more aligned path from concept to shipped product.
  • The last eight years I’ve been at Meta, where I worked across the Facebook and Instagram apps, designing products and features used by billions of people worldwide. Throughout my career, I’ve also had the opportunity to work with a range of notable organizations, including The Weather Channel, NHL, Sonny’s BBQ, AdventHealth, LinkedIn, X-Bionic, 4 Rivers BBQ, and the University of Central Florida.
